  • Overview

    In this role the Costing Engineer will provide administrative support to the Engineering Manager and Engineering Cost Analyst. The Costing Engineer work requires the ability to communicate with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.  Assist in prototype activities as well as assist with program launch activities.

    Responsibilities

    • Review Request for Quote for completeness; obtain additional information as required.
    • Create EBOM/Process for quoting with assistance from Manager.
    • Compile and distribute Request for Quote packages for supplier and tooling quoting.
    • Evaluate and review supplier/tooling quotes for proper and fair costing with assistance from Manager.
    • Develop Quote File and provide it to Engineering Cost Analyst.
    • Create/maintain Bill of Material (BOM); obtains and documents all relevant specifications for BOM.
    • Create/maintain Part Master.
    • Facilitate internal cost save effort.
    • Oversee/assist on prototype fabrication processes.
    • Procurement of materials for preproduction/prototype builds and research projects.
    • Maintain Inventory of all materials for prototype/preproduction builds and development materials.
    • Research materials for technology advancement.
    • Prepare presentations for customers as needed.
    • Assist with document activities as required.
    • Interfacing with customers and suppliers as needed.
    • Assist production with product changes/issues.
    • Participate in cross functional teams and other duties as required.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science – Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred
    • Engineering related experience 2-3 years in automotive industry
    • Experience with Process Flow, FMEA, and Control Plans
    • Proficient with the use of the MS Office suite of programs with special emphasis on Excel and Access.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrate strong emphasis on customer service.
